Ever have a bad water change day

Yikes. I've never had it that bad, but I have overflowed buckets before onto carpet. I get distracted moving/pulling/rearranging plants and decor and forget that I've got a bucket filling. Then there was the time I was hurrying to dump a bucket on the lawn, and the dog got excited 'cause he thought I was playing or something and knocked into the bucket, spilling about 2 gallons on the carpeted hallway.

At least in our new house (renting) the fish room will be tiled instead of carpeted. I just hope that it's not too cold in there (unheated room + Wisconsin winter= probably bad idea).

poor guy,..lol sounds like me,.. and careful with your illness, i have had a slitting headache since monday and with stff neck and went to dr.
dummy said i strained my neck,.. :screwy: also had low grade fever,.. my head is killing me,.. scared as to what its going to turn into and hope its the flu and not something worse,.. i feel for you,.. really i do,..

oh boy....to think i was complaining about the mouthful of aquarium water i got when starting the siphon for my gravel vac.

i dont leave my gravel vac unattended because of fear of sucking up fish....doesnt anyone suck up fish when they walk away for a while? i have caught 3 neons doing this.

coach i had an angel in the gravel vac once. thank god he was too big to go down the hose

yeah, i equate this to riding motorcycles.

it's not a matter of if...it's a matter of when.

it is inevitable

good job jinxie... someone give that gal a gold star

:jaw-dropping: oh dear lol the worst ive done is have the hose pop out of the tank for about 30 seconds and it ended with me diving for the hose on the floor and my husband diving to turn the tap off  messy but i couldnt imagine him letting me keep my tank if it was as bad as yours! he used to moan when the big lemon fin barbs i had would tail swish at the surface and cause an overflow :goldfish:

oh yes and i have found that a washing machine hose holder thing works well to have the hose hooked over the edge of the tank, the plastic removeable U shaped hose holder that holds the waste water hose in the pipe behind the washer. i couldnt do without mine now!

Wow that sounds like a winner of an idea! I will definitely have to try that on my next water change. If only I can figure out how to attach a small float valve to shut the water off near the top so overflows are not an issue lol.

msjinkzd girl, Its good to hear that you got through yours without a mess, maybe I provided some inspiration for caution LOL.

I'm a visual thinker, and I'm afraid that I laughed when I read this. I don't know what you look like but the image of you running past your astonished wife with a running hose while smoke poured out of your oven finished me off.

I tend to slop while I pour full 5 gallon buckets of water down the kitchen sink. I always wait til the bucket is right full, and as I have no fingers on my right hand this can be a wee bit tricksy. My husband started to wonder why the cupboard underneath was wet all the time. He is a plumber so of course he tore the whole thing apart. Whew* As it turned out the hole that the sink was originally installed into was too big. An hour or so later all was repaired. I can slop to my heart's content!
