Betta w/inflammed face, acting lazy

He is the only sick fish. I have over 40 different fish, 10 betta, 9 cichlids, 9 platy, bottom dwellers and others. All are fine, any torn fins heal very fast, even the other betta. I had problems with conditioners, either over dose, bad for snails, w/e. I have not had a sick fish since we moved and are using well water. Before I had a bad issue with Ick or fish just suddenly dieing for no reason. Since the switch, not a single white spot, no flashing either, knock-on-wood!
I'm holding off on the conditioner until I know what is growing on his face.
I've been giving him anti-bacterial/fungal/parasite flake food for a week mixed with his regular weekly dinner.

A tumour wouldn't come up that quickly, though. Some sort of infection seems more likely.

Actually the signs of a tumor could appear that quickly. The tumor itself can be lurking there before you see effects from it, and those can show up suddenly.

I'm honestly not sure though. Like I said, the inflammation could be due to almost anything. A tumor is a possibility, something parasitic, bacterial, viral, etc..
I'm not seeing anything definitive enough to diagnose as something specific. Sorry :( .

How are things going? Can you give us an updated photo of the area?

I've seen bettas with the same thing at my LFS, could it possibly just be the coloration of his 'flair'?

No, his 'beard/flare' is normal, black like it always was.
This bump is in the front center of his gill cover, it's more defined and pointed.
I will try to get a pic after work today. He is still his happy go lucky self.

I misunderstood where the bump was, my bad
