Hi,

New to posting here, but have used the forums in the past which have been very useful!!

please help! I bought a pair of dwarf gourami 3 weeks ago and added them to my established 125l planted tank with mostly tetras.

Earlier in the week I noticed a small hole/wound on the underside of the female gourami (near to where she poos) which looked a little red, since then it is getting bigger as if eating into her body. Her poo is also getting redder. Does anyone know what this is? She is still swmming fine, and has a healthy appetite. the male gourami seems to have got a tiny bit aggressive (nothing massive, just the odd chase and nip that he wasn't doing before). I had my water tested at my favoured fish shop last week and everything was fine.

The tank has been established since January, though I am new to fish disease, and have only had to treat for white spot once. All the other fish look healthy, including the male dwarf gourami.

Does anyone have any ideas?

thank you!!

I have just taken these pics. You can see how big a chunk it is, and looks quite red.

Please help!!

Without culturing it's impossible to know the actual pathogen, but Aeromonas or Psedomonas are the most likely culprits. An antibiotic effective against gram - bacteria such as API's Furan or Triple Sulfa is your best bet.
