Water lettuce and water hyacinth don't usually work very well indoors over the long run, unfortunately - would need to drop the water level a bit in order to accommodate it, as well.

Amazon frogbit is probably a better choice, there's a member who wanted to trade some in a recent posting.

Duckweed is probably the fastest-growing floating plant you can find. It can be a nuisance though, because it does require regular thinning out. On the good side, a few quick scoops with a net are all that's necessary.

Yeah, and duckweed is a good food source for goldfish if ya got em. Keeps their digestive tract flushed. Problem with frogbit is that it is a noxious weed on the Federal list......illegal. So mums the word on this site.

Yeah, check on the federal noxious weed list on AC for frogbit (Salvinia?)

Goldfish have a tendency to get clogged up in the intestines when they don't get enough veggies. They are nutorious plant eaters. They luv eating those fresh veggies and that's why - medicine. They will eat all kinds of plants. Some humans need to follow in kind when they get gas.
