One of my three AC50's makes gargling noise only when the water flow is restricted (i.e., when the adjustment control is positioned to the right). When the water flow is unrestricted, it's silent.

It was silent regardless of the control position not so long ago. What may cause this problem?

I agree

My AC70 does this but in reverse - silent to the right, noisy to the left. Looks like I'll be getting my hands dirty...

have you also checked to see that your filter's lid is not a bit loose and the edge of the intake tube isn't rubbing against the edge of the little hole in the lid? happened to me once, had a bit of a 'rat-a-tat-tat' noise and some vibration going on. moved the intake tube over to the left just a smidgen and all was good.

Chris-K, do you have a prefilter on your AC50? I thought I remembered you putting one on fairly recently...

My AC70 was horribly noisy last night and the flow was a trickle. I nudged the sponge that I have on my intake down a little and blessed silence!! So definitely check to see if your sponge is possibly restricting flow too much.

get some sunsun's.......

No thanks. I have 4 Eheims.

You are the man! I put a Fluval edge prefilter on my AC50 (a perfect fit) a month ago. I cleaned it by squeezing it. After that, the AC50 is silent again. The clogged prefilter was restricting the flow too much.
