Yep, it's Sunday aka Update day. Some sadness first... Last week was very difficult for me, I lost my Sephy. :( At work I keep looking over to his tank to realize he's not there. So sad.

But where there is death there is also life. I've got a couple baby briggs chugging along in his tank with a few ramshorns. For now it'll be a snail tank.

BTW: This will be a brigg-heavy post. :thm:

Last Sunday I added a piece of zuke - frozen/thawed, and forked. I think the snails liked it.

Baby briggs!

Sunday night...

'bout time Mama Grande found it!
101410 dump 038.jpg

Some of these guys are getting big - relatively speaking.

Monday evening... (It was gone 24 hours later)

Little pink brigg!
101410 dump 026.jpg

I'm so glad this pic came out clear... neat size comparison!
101410 dump 031.jpg

Circ d'snail! This little guy made it a lot further than the bigger MTS the night before.
101410 dump 083.jpg

Mr. Red about to take a breath.
101410 dump 097.jpg

Such a handsome fella.

Baby on anubias stem.
101410 dump 334.jpg

Pulled back for some scale.
101410 dump 335.jpg

And with Mr. Red to show better scale.
101410 dump 339.jpg

Blue snail meets green wall.
101410 dump 152.jpg

Mama Grande is sad there's no zuke...
101410 dump 176.jpg

It took about 10 tries to get the next two clear shots of a moving target.
101410 dump 220.jpg

101410 dump 224.jpg

And I realized that I took fairly clear shot of each of my male Endler's... the morse code one is my fave. :)

Dax's antennae are as long as the baby sword plant! I have a theory that males have longer antennae.
101410 dump 242.jpg

I caught Mama Grande making such a funny face!

Thank you for visiting! :hi:

First of all, So sorry about Sephy!! How did he die? He was my favorite of your bettas.

Secondly, The briggs are fantastic! Beautiful, active and seem to be getting along fine.
I love the endlers and great pics of them all as usual. Flame moss (?) is looking healthy aswell, so is that little baby sword!

Haha - in the last pic of Mama Grande, she's pulling the same face that my apple snail pulls when hes' taking a munch out of the duckweed, So Cute.

So will you be getting another betta? Sad to see his tank all empty (besides the baby briggs) :(

Well, dropsy killed him... but I think the culprit was something with his intestines. He'd been mildly bloated for a couple weeks, peas didn't seem to help. I could see his intestines which looked black through his body. One guess would be he ingested too much sand and became impacted. He's notorious for pecking at the sand for possible food... I thought he spit it out every time, but apparently not. Either that, or he swallowed one of the baby MTS. He pooped some light grey stuff a couple weeks ago and then nothing after. :( I didn't even know how to treat that. :(

I do not plan to get another betta. Of course that doesn't mean I won't later, but I'm not going to go out of my way to find another. I'll focus on raising up my briggs and finding them good homes. :)

I notice that they grow extremely fast!:woot: Looking nice and healthy! Thanks you for the photo update as well, I love the synchronized snail one!! Great pics, you are a great fishymom!!!

P.S. How would one use fresh zucchini for the snails? Do I microwave it or put it in fresh? Thanks fishy!:worthy:

Sorry to hear about your betta Fishy. He was super pretty. I love the snail pics, and the endlers too. What type of endlers are those? I'm sure you most likely said it somewhere and I just missed it, but I'm curious. :)

Thanks, gals.

GG, I just sliced fresh zuke, froze on foil & then bagged 'em. Thaw, skewer & sink. You can zap it in the micro w/water like peas just shorter. Otherwise it'll mush up quickly - which actually your gupps will probably like.

Ashes, I believe mine are double red chest endlers...

Thanks Fishy! I zapped mine tonight, and the ramshorns and pond snails really love it, the big briggs...not so much. Probably because I spoil them with different flavored snello, (green bean, squash, carrot and sweet potato) and green beans.... :) The baby briggs liked it though!

I froze a bunch to try that for the big briggs, so hopefully that will work!

I need to do a photo thread, like yours:idea:! I have so many pics of snails and corys:drool: and guppies and my cichlids! Not to mention all the new plants I got. I will def give you credit, and also everyone else who made a photo thread!

Thanks again fishy!:grinyes:

Poor Sephy. I'm so sorry he didn't make it.
If only we could tell the fish not to eat things they shouldn't.
My female Rainbow swallowed half of a pea without chewing and was in serious trouble for a few minutes. Eventually it disintegrated enough to get through, but I was really worried about her. Peas are getting mushed from now on.

Your Briggs are looking great!!!
