Welcome, RAY! New to forum, much to share!

i would try and identify what the other fish are so you can get a final stock. try going back to the store and looking at the nams of what you bought and righting them all in a list.

Very sneaky with the lights there. If they are T5HO with individual reflectors 2x24 watt bulbs will put you solidly in the medium light category. Unfortunately at medium light the HC probably won't survive without CO2 and ferts. (HC is actually this July's Plant OTM, check the main planted aquarium page stickies.) If you are interested in doing ferts check out EI method and PMDD, also can be found in the stickies.

Be careful about adding plants/fish from local waterways. You could get all kinds of hitchhikers.

I am planing on using the co2 diffuser from petsmart, the one that zig zags around then escapes to the top where it goes into my custom diy spraybar to get chopped up into mist and then shot into my tank. Then ferts I have no idea what to do. Fish waste maybe helps?

Suggestions please! New to plants :/

with that Co2 id put some filter floss behind it because ive heard of fosh getting stuck behind it and dieing. flourish excel and root tabs are usually a good start on ferts.

ummmm check it out

So today I got off work and went home to my good fishy fishies. I notice that my stringy java moss had unhooked itself from the sides and started floating around. It wrapped around my filter intake and took me awhile to get it out in one piece. Then as I notice my fish are getting pushed real hard and knocked against the glass from my output of my filter. Sooo0o0o, I had a master plan. Drove to home depot with all my fishes on a leash and bought a pvc pipe, end cap, 4 zipties, and an L elbow. Went home and shazam ... take a look! what do you think?

Nice spraybar, I think it would look better in black but I think everything looks better in black. :D The spray bar should be pointed towards the surface slightly, you don't want to really "break" the surface but you do want rolling mini waves (no bubbles) to allow oxygen exchange (plants do need oxygen). Like I said before look into EI dosing and PMDD method in the stickies for ferts. They are both easy, effective and cheap. Fish waste is a poor fertilizer, especially at higher light levels. It is very unbalanced and incomplete when it comes to nutrients. In a low light low tech setup with undemanding plants fish waste (feces and exhaled CO2) are usually enough but with your lights and plants fish waste probably won't get you very far.

For your CO2 methods people do have success with the ladder you are referring to but also checkout the co2 section of the sticky. There are a few options and lots of information to absorb out there.
