Yes. How should I actually grow algae in my 20 gallon. Its not near a window. Any ideas?

Leave your aquarium lights on 12+ hrs a day. Thats pretty much it. Dont leave them on 24/7 or youll have an algae bloom. Green water is extremely irritating. Whats the purpose? Ill do this sometimes to give my ramshorn something to eat.
The three things that cause algae are not doing water changes, not pythoning substrate, and leaving the lights on too long. Unfortunately I don't think causing algae this way would be too good for your fish.
I'm doing this for my snails, shrimps and it won't be too drastic.
I also have a CAE that doesnt seem like its eating any algae wafers.

actually not cleaning your tank/doing water changes and such wont create algea, just creates sick fish.. ways to create algea is by leaving the lights on and or setting the tank up by a window..
Sadly, the lights are on from 7 am-9 pm. 12 hours approx. I know too much. Yet, I haven't gotten algae. Not anything "green" on the walls/decor. Makes me sad that I can't grow it.

How about placing some rocks in a bucket near a window or outside, as they grow algae, you could add them to the tank. Keep some rocks in there so you can always rotate out when needed.
Don't skip on your water changes or gravel cleaning though. That is never a good idea.
