Public Service Announcement

You don't swim in rivers because rains usually overwhelm sewage / water treatment systems, causing overflow of raw sewage into rivers (near cities)

Out can get nasty rashes, ecoli poisoning' , other bacterial infections, etc.

thats gross

Good to know though, I'm always cutting my hands...and I'm always doing maintenance and not worrying about it really. I should be more careful.

Is it true that the bacterium only does well in low pH? Or can it infect you no matter the pH?

Not sure about this, my tank is not low pH.

My pH runs in the mid 7's...usually 7.6. I have a lot of driftwood in the tank, so if I go a couple weeks without a water change it gets down to 7.0-7.2, but that's as low as it gets.

ouch. one of those things that "will never happen to me" until it happens
