Long time no post. Sorry bought a house...restarted tanks.

Since I have restarted my 125 planted tank I have come up with a couple questions.

1) what kind of plant is in picture one?

2) what kind of fish is picture two(thinking hybrid green terror)?

3) I am trying to determine if I have a pair of blue acaras? From what I have read it is hard to sex blue acaras.

Let me know and thank you in advance.

First fish is a Green Terror. It doesn't appear hybridized, merely terrorized. On the Acaras you'll need to get a full broadside view of each fish to get a meaningful answer. Now if the fish shown are the only ones in the tank, I could take an educated guess and say that the condition of the Terror supports the Acaras being a pair, but it's hardly definitive.

Thanx subrosa. The condition of the terror is manly how I got him. He was kinda a rescue. I found in LFS on a mis labeled Dempsey( i think i know they were aggressive and he did not fit) tank and the fin damage has not grown in since I got him even know he has grown a bit. I will try for some better shots tonight.

1) plant in pic one is a Cardinal plant, or lobelia cardinalis.
Apparently was at one time in my GFs tank and now somehow growing very well in my tank.

2) the fish in pic two is a green terror (being terrorized).

3) the two blues are most likely male and female(still looking for confirmation).

With that all being said I got new questions.
1) anyone have any experience with Cardinal plants?

2) is the green terror going to be a problem? (I think the terror bully is actually a rainbow shark).

The green terror could be a problem. If you do in fact have a pair of blues and the green terror goes within their breeding area then the GT will get a whooping. As for the bullying it could be the rainbow shark. I had one that was fearless and attacked convicts and a 6inch oscar. But it could be the blues as well. Mixing cichlids is a hit and miss process. It all depends on the fishes personalities. I would personally move the GT to his own tank if possible or rehome him so he doesnt get a buttwhooping anymore.
