I have a matured planted 26 gallon tank. It is at 78 degrees and contained one betta fish, a handful of least killiefish (nano-fish) and a couple of spixi snails.

I was looking at it today wondering if I might be able to add something a bit more flashy. The betta ignores the killies. So Maybe a small group of tetras or something like that?

What color is the betta?

A decent sized group of harlequin raspboras can definitely fit the bill for "flashy" in a planted tank. The same can be said for rummynose tetras. With your current stocking you could easily have a school of a dozen or so I would think. How the betta will get along with them is always a crapshoot IME.

Siamese algae eaters are quite awesome too. I enjoy the 3 SAEs in my 55g more than the 4 emerald corys in my 29g. They're much more out and about, where my corys are very skittish.

Other than that, like said, a colorful batch of tetras or danios would be nice. My experience with hatchets and bettas/gouramis is the bettas/gouramis lunge at the hatchets on occasion. It's almost like they get aggravated at the fact the hatches like the surface too. OTOH, they pretty much ignore schools of tetras or danios.
