what type of Terrarium is this?

Hello, I am a first time poster. This is a great website, so informative. I was wondering if anybody recognizes this old terrarium. Is it for plants only or do you think it is also for reptiles. It is 15" tall and 33" aro002.JPGund. Any help would be apprecaited. Pam

If that's a terrarium, that's the oddest shaped one I've ever seen.
 
I know it is an odd shape. At first I thought I remembered it from the 70s but that is the mushroom shape era. Do you think it could be handmade? I am sure it is a terrarium, because it has a hinged door and it is very sturdy. The person I bought it from said that the welds are really old. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks Pam
 
Interesting......it looks like a decoration that you'd put a candle inside of or something.
 
Thanks for the suggestion, maybe a candle holder but it is just so huge. It is a mystery piece. I know if you guys have never seen this type of terrarium it probably is not one. Thanks Pam
 
My thought was that it is a lamp shade. The hinged door is so you can change the bulb easily. But I don't really know anything about it.
