one of the newer members, Halo, has several sailfin and other plecos. The largest ones will actually ignore food in favor of getting nose rubs, and when they get their share of petting, they will eat of out his hand.

Also, remember that if a fish swallows a hook, just cut the leader. Most hooks will harmlessly rust out in a week or two, the exception being stainless steel hooks which should be avoided. Another option is to try a "circle hook", I've never had a fish gut a circle hook.
