I am awful at secxng fish. But I always felt that the rostrum ("long nose") on the males was thicker and darker than that of the females.
I had 3 and was lucky two were females because I lost the first mom after a few spawns and then the 2nd female stepped up and continued the tradition. One note, I have had a lot of fish spawn in my tanks over the years. The farlo fry were the absolute most difficult to raise I have ever encountered.
