I had a reef tank for 7 yrs,very simple setup,ac110 red sea prizm hang on the back protien skimmer,it was a beautiful tank,the one thing I learned is to not overstock,oh yeh never had a sump.

Yep that's pretty much my plan on this and so far it's worked well.


Any ideas on my chalice?

Very possible the chalice is getting too much light or too much flow (thinking the later). Previous pics don't show it receding like that last pic. Any other corals in a similar situation?

Nope everything is doing great, even the sps I have! It's been in the same spot the whole time I've had it I believe. I moved it down earlier and I found it today "face" down in the sand ugh. Moved it to another more secure spot as far down as I can. Is the coral at any risk of dying?

It's receding for some reason and chalices are somewhat known to melt. I would try shading it a little and placing it in a low spot somewhat sheltered from the flow.
