Very cool. I was given a prickly sculpin last week but it didnt survive the transport across town. DARN!
..that is sad:( why do you think it didn't survive?.

Yes, it was a bummer...I got a prickly sculpin and 5 orange spotted sunfish from a professional aquarist who had collected them. He said the sculpin was a bit thin and could use feeding. I was planning to put it in a tank with a bunch of surplus fry and let it feast. It was a bit of a cold night, but they typically are very cold tolerant. At first I thought it might be doing that "catatonic" thing that Ive seen fish do in cold temps, but no such luck. The sunfish were fine and have cleaned out the surplus fry very quickly.

another video...and interesting observation.....so while catching crayfish i often fined sculpin under the same rocks ..a while back I tossed a bunch of marbled cray in to the tank. while taking pic last night I noticed a cray coming out looking for food..out of her cave? o_O...even caught them on camera as the cray came out to snag a algae wafer..the sculpin turns around..tried to take the pellet and lets the cray take it away back in to her cave o_O...they are living together? ( oh and finely a feeding video ^_^)

Great set up! I am setting up a prickly sculpin display in Vancouver, Canada. Aside from cool, clear water, is there anything else you can recommend for keeping our scuplins happy and healthy when they are on display? E.g. oxygen levels, water hardness/softness, water pH.

Is it ok to line the tank with gravel only, or would a mixture of sand and gravel be more suitable?
