Hi to all the great wizards of fishdume. I have a Dovii that has turned out to be a female. Least wise that is what we think. She has pushed the sand up in the corners of the tank. Now what I`m wundering is does it seem possible that she and one of my big male Tilapia would mate? Haven`t been able to find a Dovii male locally big enough to not be a snack.

Well it didn`t work. The Dovii sure took a marked dislike to the male Tilapia. She chased him all night. Took him out early a/m. He looked real relieved.

While they are both ciclids, ciclids are a huge family and most of the time you can get only the same species to mate (sometimes fish considered different species can still mate. But this is very rare and only in very very closely related species)
