Tube selection for compact fluorescent fixture

coralife makes a pink bulb in the T5 that they call "colourmax".

on most of my 30inch tanks, I have their freshwater aqualights that come with one pink bulb and a 6700 K plant bulb.

I tried two 6700K bulbs and I too found it way too green looking.

you might want to see if you can get these colormax T5s because they look fantastic when used with the 6700 K ones.

as you can see, the lighting looks great with the combo of pink and 6700 K. However, keep in mind that the pink bulb won't do much for plant growth. its just there for colour:

Go for the 10,000k bulbs. They give a whiter light, and are still beneficial to the plants. Something like this:

I have a 6500K and 10000K combination on my 29g and it is a nice mix. Its bright, but its not too yellow or too white.

My 55g has 2 6700K bulb and it looks really yellow, so I'll eventually replace one with a 10000K bulb.
