I'm running a XP3 on my 55. The supplied spray bar is only 12 inches or so long, I didn't feel the water was getting circulated enough, so off to Lowes!

Some 1/2 pvc some elbows, a cap, and a barbed fitting and here tis:

Sitting on the front of the tank to check fit.

Barb end of bar (left end when installed)

Other end (right hand side). Made the bar self supporting with the elbows.

1/4 holes every inch on the rear of the bar (closest to glass).

Painted black with Krylon Fusion.

Seems to work great! (just fitted it to the tank). Disappeared in the shadow back there at the rear of the tank.

It's there-gotta look for it!

Cool. I have been tossing the idea around of a DIY spraybar. Wasnt sure which way to go, but I think this will do nicely!

Hey! Dont patent it until after I get mine built, please.:)

You can build one... just don't try to sell it.

Great idea man. how much does it agitate the surface of the water. It would look sweet if you painted it black.

It is painted black (see last two pics).

Gotta a steady ripple all along the top of the tank; no whitecaps, but a gentle ripple.

Oh ok i see it now, thought that was the trim along the back of the tank. Has a nice clean look to it.

On my 150g tank, I have the regular eheim spraybar mounted horizontally; nothing special. I tried adding an air injector, as seen in these pictures. It didnt work so well with the spraybar though.
