I've got a fancy male guppy that seems to have been sick for more than a week now. He has been having some trouble swimming and sometimes sits along the bottom. He is still eating and spends most of his time swimming. This morning I noticed he has what looked like a small growth that was fuzzy or furry looking. I just looked at him now and that is gone but there seems to be a string-looking thing coming from the same area just behind his right fin. Any ideas on what this could be?

I would have told you that the fuzzy thing could have been a fungus, but if it's gone, then I'm not sure. Is the stringy thing coming out of its anal region?

could be lots of things...fungus...anchor worm...can you post a pic ?

No, it's coming off the fish from right behind its right fin. But now as I look at it that is gone as well. I have no idea what is going on with this thing.

yes, ill try and get a pic of the fish on his right side, but now there isn't anything there. ill see what i can get. thanks for the help so far!

They say that Aquarium salt and raising the heat to about 80 works. you can also by medication for it like: POLYGUARD or SULFATHIAZOLE. Both treat Bacteria, Fungus, and Parasites. good luck
