This is what I came up with for my 45 gallon tank that was missing the center brace. I cut a peice of glass and siliconed it to the underneath side of the plastic trim piece. For added strength, I took two L shaped metal angel brackets and gorilla glued them to the middle of the outside of the top trim piece. I took a piece of acrylic and cut it to the same width as the metal brackets and measured to length of tank. I drilled holes at each side of the acrylic that correspond to the holes in the metal brackets. I then siliconed the acrylic to the brackets and then screwed the acrylic to the brackets. Cost for project $0.53 each for metal brackets, $6.50 for a sheet of acrylic and $1.45 for set of screws, total cost $9.01. Hope this info is helpful for anyone else looking to do the same thing.
