The system is a canister that you mix sugar water and yeast in to make co2 gas. This is changed about every 3 weeks. when th e gas starts it travels up the ladder and the bubbles are them dissapated into the water.
These have only been used a year but I upgraded to a bigger tank & pressurized. Works very well on 10-30 gallon tank.

ok, if i use both on a 55 gallon will this be ok?

yes at one time I had both on my 65 gallon -worked pretty well every 2 weeks I changed one of the canisters.
