Now that I have a shiny new top for my 33G hex front tank, I can start thinking about replacing the clippy lamps I've been using for extra light and invest in a proper strip light. What I'm not sure of is how much light to pour into the tank. I don't want to use CO2 simply because I don't want to run the risk of flooding my apartment if something gets loose. I've been dosing Excel and other Seachem liquid ferts, and intend on continuing to do so. I have roughly 300 square inches of surface area to illuminate. How much light could I put over the tank without adding CO2, and not have serious algae issues? I'm looking at anything from 60W to 200W.
