Is it true that snails eat poop?

I put two of my fancy guppies in a container to transfer them. I also put a snail in the container. I noticed my guppies went to the bathroom quite often and I noticed the snail kind of sucked in the poop but did not spit it back out... is this common? do snails like poop?

Its a mystery(apple) snail by the way.

I don't know, but I can tell you that the tank that has my brigs in it has the cleanest sand. I often have to vaccum the others, but not that one.

I certainly would not rely on feces as a primary food source. In order for good shell health, mystery snails need a calcium rich diet.

I know snails need calcium-rich food. I feed them invert pellets.

So I am assuming they don't mind poop?

My Tank Setup

Mine eat fish poop, and basically, just about anything in their way.
