Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.:) But any ways, how long have you been keeping fresh water fish? I have been keeping them for nine years by the way.:grinyes:

The right way or having fish just in general?

If just having fish then about the last 10 years or so with a break of probably 2-3 years in between.

If you mean doing it the right way then about 2 yrs.

I'ma newbie, but I have read everything I could find. I personally have only been keeping fish for 6 months.

My family however, has bread cichlids for over 20 years.

My tank has been running for over 14 years now, I'm happy to say.

Along with what IceH2O mentioned, I've probably only correctly been doing things about 2 1/2 years though. I'm a bit surprised at the longevity of the fish I had when I didn't know any better. Amazingly enough, they had endured those first 12 years. I definitely feel bad about their environment now, looking back.

Approximately 2 1/2 years. I was always fascinated by fish but assumed that it was too complicated/too much work. I'd talked about it a few times and then my husband encouraged me to give it a shot. So I spent months reading and researching (and I found this site before I ever bought my first fish, thank god!) Now it seems, everywhere I look, I'm gauging what size tank I could put there....If we get rid of the loveseat, I could get that 125g....Haven't convinced the hubby to part with any furniture yet though...

About 15 years. Only about 10 years the right way. I started with a 20 gal and now have a 20, 125, 5 gal (all freshwater) and 2 goldfish ponds - 50 gal and 1500 gal.

Time for a bigger house so I can get more tanks. :grinyes: Wish someone would have warned me that this hobby is addictive.
