This is what I've been using lately to rid my tank of the evil bubble algae.

I've gone through several revisions, and found this one to work the best.

The tubing is from aquatic ecosystems, inc., but it was just lying around from some other project. It's bigger than air line tubing, but smaller than the usual syphon tubing.

The end is just a plastic straw I stole from the kitchen. It's actually hard plastic, I think my wife got the set from Crate & Barrel, but I can't really be sure.

Anyway, I just trimmed the end to give it a nice sharp point, and when I do my 5g water change, I use this to syphon the water out. Gives me a good 15 minutes to look closely around the tank and scrape rocks, glass, sand, whatever.

Today I cleared the sand of any cyano or anything growing there, sucked a bubble out of a colony of zoas, cleared all the other bubbles I could see, and even swatted at a frisky clown who was upset I was so close to his BTA.

Just wanted to share the idea. :)
