I hear it is great once the back of the tank is painted black.

Anybody have a few photos they are willing to share?

What kind of paint do you use and what you use to apply it. I was thinking of some water based paint and a simple brush. I would like to have it non permanent, just in case I don't like it.

So looking for any info from you folks that have the black painted background.

Thanks in advance
Dave

Ok-

and

before the water, plants and fish went in:

Paint was one part epoxy paint, semi-gloss. I got it to paint my diy pc light boxes and just used it for the tanks. If you use paint, apply it with a roller and plan to do 2 coats to get the best coverage.

my camera is broken, but i used plasti-kote odds n ends brush on latex enamel.
that is what i highly recommend you use (or a similar latex enamel)
only required a single coat to be completely opaque.
super easy to remove, i peeled off the background of a 10gal in essentially 2 big pieces.

and you'll have to take my word for it that it looks amazing :)

Thanks for the suggestions and photos everyone. The only problem I have now is, the tank is full and only 3" from the wall. Should still be able to get a roller in there however.

I like the idea of the sign vinyl but may be a bit on the pricey side. Definitely not permanent which is what I am looking for.
