As some of you know I am planning a 20G long community tank and I wanted to ask all of you a question regarding filtration:

Should I keep my Whisper 20 filter that I have had for a month, and buy another Whiper 20 filter so I can have 2 sources of filtrartion? I will change the pads every 2 months, because the filtration will be diluted by half. And regarding carbon, I'll put one bag of carbon in one filter and after it is used up, I'll throw out the carbon in the filter and put another bag in the other filter.

Or should I just buy a new Whisper 40 filter?
(I lost the receipt to the old 20 so I cant return it for money at Petsmart)

Thank you.

Two filters have the benefit of redundancy, so, if there's a problem with one, the other can still carry some of the load.

Two filters...get another 20.

Because one will be sucking up more stuff than the other, then I have to change one before I change the other, and if I were gone for a few months, the person to do it would get confused.
