75gal Reef Tank, Live Rock with maybe Corals

1 Zebra Moray
1 Royal Gramma
1 Yellow Assessor
2 Threadfin Cardinalfish
3 False Percula Clowns
2 Yellowtail Blue Damselfish
1 Yellow Tang Surgeonfish
1 Sharknose Goby
1 Decorated Goby
2 Zebra dart Goby
2 Urchin

I read in "Marine Fishes" by Scott W. Michael, that the Zebra Moray is no threat to fish, even small ones.

I tried to pick reef safe fish, that would help eat algae and waste particles as well as add color to my tank. If you know of other fish that you recommend in a 75gal reef tank, you may offer me that advice too!

thank you for your help.

they are all pretty small colorful fish. I don't know if any of the Gobies can go together, so i listed the goby types i wanted. the sharknose and zebra dart are supposed to act like cleaner fish, picking off ich and are disease resistant. so i read....and the decorated goby is supposed to help clean the sand substrate of debris.

i would appreciate advice on the type of reef fish that could go in a 75gal aquarium.

They all are suitable, however, whether they "could" go in the tank is a different question...Mixing same species of fish in this size of tank is not that good..Mixing peacfull and predacious fish is also a concern in your stocking list....

Is there are reason why you want 3 clowns? It would be a lot better if you just go with a mated pair. It would be quite stressful on the three clowns in there because two would pair off but there would definitely be a lot of fighting.

oh i did not realize that 3 clowns would be an issue. I will just get two then. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

I will end up picking only one goby, i just liked those three listed.

I also understand that there are alot of fish, i doubt 14 fish, plus a moray eel will be ok in a 75gal reef tank. Furthermore i wouldn't add them all at once, i would put them in there bit by bit, and every month or so increase the rock work.

I had the idea of starting with clowns with an anemone and just about 20 pounds of LR in the center of the tank. And as time passed, and my skill's improved in keeping the tank running smoothly, i would add more LR and add more fish. I would do this to minimize my losses if something died in the first few weeks of care, and i would do this to cut my costs in the beginning.

What do you think of this plan? Anyone can answer...

Thank you, i'll open my book and read about those now. I think having an urchin or two would be really neat, but i don't know much about them. What function do they play in a reef tank? And is it suitable for a beginner to get one?

How will i know how many fish is too many? i hear people say general rules of thumb, but others dismiss those rules as rubbish. Furthermore, how will i know how many of one species to keep? The book Marine Fishes, says minimal on the number...but not to any length of detail.
