I've been trying to figure out how I can make the best use of the two 3-shelf metal racks that I have in my fish room. I had contemplated building 50 breeder and 72" 100 gallon tanks to fill them. Fitting what I wanted on the racks with the 72.5" clearance horizontally just wasn't working for me. The cost of glass was prohibitive as well. Handling 6' pieces of glass alone borders on insane in my book too.
This morning I remembered that garf.org had plywood tank construction instructions on their site. They have a nifty calculator that gives you every bit of materials you need, all the measurements, and assembly instructions. I know there's a lot of build information on MFK and here as well, but having it all spelled out works better for me. I can follow directions, but tend to forget stuff if I try to put the instructions together myself.
The plan is to assemble 6 72x18x18 (approx. 101 gallons each) plywood tanks with glass fronts. Afterwards, I plan to get rid of every tank I have under 75 gallons.
First step: Clear out garage to make room to work!
