I hope most of you have enjoyed your Valentine's day weekend. For me, it was a bittersweet ending to a long bond I came accustomed to. It left, almost as fast as it came. My green water has left me(well, one of my tanks at least).

It all happened so suddenly, it only took 3 days to tatally clear out, crystal clear. I've had this green water for over 2 months, maybe even 3. And this weekend, just as fast as it came, it left. What's surprising was that, we tried the black-out method(well, really brown out, since I didn't cover it completely), didn't work. I couldn't add any algaecide in there, as I have snails and shrimp. I tried Excel, didn't do much either. I started dosing Flourish, but didn't see any changes either. Constant water changes didn't seem to impact it for more than a day. As the days grew, I also became accustomed to the green, spooky, mysterious look of that tank. I decided, my other tank was crowding with duckweed and Salvinia Minima. I moved some Salvinia Minima to the green water tank(aka Guppy tank). I treated the Salvinia Minima with PP to rid it of pond snails, and then placed it in the Guppy Tank.

I'm not sure what did the green water in, but it's gone, all of it. The glass is as clear as day, and the plants downed in the spooky water for months, don't look too bad. I can actually see the fish that I want to catch(but as a side-effect, the fish swims much faster now too since they can see more than an inch ahead).

I'll dearly miss my green water.

But dang, from muddy green to crystal clear in 2 days? That's faster than a blackout!
