Thought I would try and get some ideas on stocking my 29g before I actually go and do it. Here is what I was thinking:

5 Serpae tetras, 5 gold barbs, 2 pearl gournamis, 2 peacock gudgeons, 2 glass cats, and 1 small pleco.

Any advice? Thanks so much!

more glass cats and watch out....they are too kind for their own good they might have problems with some of the other fish.

glass cats like to be around more of their kind, I suggest more than 5. if they don’t have a nice school thy feel comfortable in they will waste away, they are extremely shy.
I would turn those 5 barbs into cats then your good!

I would trade in the serpae tetras for more glass cats; serpaes can be nippy so they may bother the gouramis. You need to make sure you get a male/female of the gouramis too! Make sure you do your research on the glass cats, not sure but I think they can be hard to keep healthy.....

Reason why I selected 5 tetras and 5 barbs is cause I already have one of each in the tank. Is it ok to not put other tetras and barbs in the tank with em or do I need to add more of them for schooling purposes?

I chose overstocked for a couple of reasons. The glass cats, tetras, and barbs should be in a bigger group. One large or two of the three in slightly larger groups would be better IMO. Also, what type of pleco?

Smallest possible. I have heard that some can get quite big and I do not want to have to limit the other fish in the tank due to a large pleco

my vote is inappropriately stocked.

your tank isnt overstocked, but there are too many types of schooling fish in it for the tank's size.

Thanks. Never even occurred to me to put that in the poll. You brought up a good point.
