After a tradgedy moving and losing about 20 fish(courtesy of the copper in the water from new pipes, wtf), I'm almost having to start fresh. Went with a whole new gravel, away from the typical brown rocks from the pet shop. The old gravel cost about 80 dollars when I bought about 100 pounds of it. I went to a local rock yard and picked up the equivalent in weight for 12 dollars. I bout regular and black limestone, and then some of the pebble stone limestone. I do not have all of it in the aquarium yet, so I'm looking for input to see if you think I'm on the right track. I'll be adding mor holey rock, but I'm debating on whether or not to add driftwood as well.

Thanks for looking, all comments welcome.

Kind of hard to see that the landscape is uneven due to the black blending so well. Pic was from cell phone camera as my Nikon is somewhere in a box after moving.

I would use oil not latex

Fishshrod, certain brand? I had just read of some folks who used latex just for the ease of removal, but hadn't thought of the oil.

Thanks for the compliments guys. I've never been much into aquascaping, just trying to make this one look a little better. What about driftwood, should I throw some in? If so, I can go check out the river and do the whole process of curing and such. None of my local stores carry big enough interesting pieces. Everything is pretty much only about 7"x10"x7" roughly. I have approximately another 30-35 pounds of rock left. I just don't want my tank to look so bare, but not over crowded either.

I'm also looking to buy new glass tops, my current set cracked and my 100 has akward dimensions I guess compared to all the measurements I've seen online.

i use latex on all of my tanks. dont see why it would matter since the fish will never come in contact with the back of the tank (hopefully).
