I saw a photo the other day, which had a filter return pipe in the picture. the pipe was a pale blue green color, and had a black cap on the high spot. I assume this is so that you can fill the system from the top with water to reprime the filter.

I have a filter that is a beast to get reprimed, and I want one of these pipes I saw. I have had no luck finding one.

anyone know who makes em?

Those come stock on the Rena XP series canisters. I'm sure you can find one on ebay or get one from the mfr......

I have one. You slide the tube over the barbed connector, and tighten the nut down on the tubing. Just like the fittings on the Eheim universla pumps.

Also, just like the Eheim pumps, this fitting then screws onto the rest of the pipe with a threaded connection with an O-ring.

The cap only actually comes off the Rena the first time you set it up. After that there is never a need to prime the filter. The shutoff valves at the filter head trap a siphon that just starts itself when a clean filter is put in place. The fill cap goes on the filter inlet side, not the return. If you give it a few seconds after connecting the clean filter, the canister will be full and ready to go. BTW, the Rena comes with a funnel to fill the tube with, you only need to fill the tube, not the whole canister, even the first time.
