A new species of freshwater snail was discovered in the Phillipines. The snail, placed under the family Viviparidae, varies from dark olive to black with red blotches, with gills and an operculum. The shell of this snail has 5-6 whorls, and measures up to 60mm high. The snail is being named Lupina aprilfoolsi.

Lupina aprilfoolsi was first believed to be an all female parthenogenic species, but further studies under a microscope suggested the evidence of a penis, making it hermaphrodite. It is also reported that Lupina will try to copulate with Pila conica in it's natural habitat, and often copulates with Cipangopaludina chinensis, mistakening it for Pila conica.

Lupina aprilfoolsi shares it's natural habitat with 17 species of loach, to which it is a food item. Lupina can defend itself itself by screaming like a little girl, producing a high-pitched noise which deters away predators.

Other characteristics of Lupina aprilfoolsi includes it's poor taste in avatars, and it's determined mission to make sure people know that Pomacea bridgesii is now Pomacea diffusa.

Inspired by thebrandon's April Fools joke, fueled by my own sick, cruel sense of humor. Sorry Lupin, you know you're my favorite person here. :)
