so for awhile, atleast since the 23rd my tiger barbs just stopped being playful and active. typical behavior would be them just hanging in my fake plants just drifting there. one of em was always hangin at the corner of my tank alone.

and now one of my green barbs is always chillin at the very top of the tank. and they are acting weird in ways of like 3-4 barbs will sorta nip or pick at one of my green barbs.its not aggressive, its kinda like just kissing repeatedly really fast over that spot, and right below his top fin, its like scales are gone or something cause its like white when it should be green. and theyll just swim around and randomely just slow down and let go and turn upside down and just float... i dont get this at all!!!!! its like they're floating in space where theres no gravity and they have no control sometimes. if they're not floating in the trees, or rigth above the water line, they're just sitting on the ground or sitting in plants.

my rainbow shark also has like a small white spot e didnt have before, and he too just sits on the ground. my neons arent active either. and i now can only find 1 platy instead of 2. i am so confused..

ive been treating ich cause i noticed my rams had ick on them, thats been since the 23rd. i put the correct amount of salt into a 5 gallon bucket and slowly put it into my tank, if this is something ishould mention i dont know.

whats wrong with my barbs or any of my fish i guess.

hell while writing this i got my fish net to just move the fish around a bit, and they kinda react slower than normal. and i noticed one barb was just laying upside down on the ground.. i know im repeating myself, but im just so shocked. my tank was so active before.

all i have is a nitrite and ammonia api test kit

ammonia and nitrite levels are fine

if you think it could be something else i need to test for let me know and ill bring a water sample to petsmart ASAP and get the info to you guys

A couple of questions -- are you absolutely sure it as ick and not another type of infection? Did the salt seem to help? Also, what's the temp? When was your last water change?

I don't know about your store, but the people at my store test with strips. They are mostly inaccurate. I would recommend picking up a liquid test kit.

Have you added any fish to the tank recently? Sounds like a touch of ich and perhaps a bacterial infection is spreading around. Do you have any pics?
I would do frequent water changes and continue to treat for the ich. The salt should help with a bacterial infection as well.
How much salt is in the tank?

im pretty sure. it was no serious ick on the fish, like more than 5 spots, but i defiantely saw little salt crystals i guess is a good way to explain, on the rams.

the salt seemed to help in the way of theres no more crystals on my fish. i also noticed how it sort of got in a calyst before it fell of the fish, so just proves more it was probably ick. the temp is about 82-83 i believe. i raised it up for a couple days earlier to relieve the ick quicker. my last water change was before i did the salt thing, so on the 23rd.

the most recent fish ive added is my 2 rams. before the rams all the fish seemed more active. as far as the salt, i forgot the excat ammount. i did like 2 tablespoons per gallon? or is it supposed to be 2 TEAspoons per gallon? either way, i followed the ick sticky on this site, so i know i did it correctly.

btw, no pics, sorry. and water changes ok. how much should i do, and how frequent.

also to add onto the weird behavior.

i notice the fish will shake or tremble in place. it kinda looks like they're swimming, but theyre just staying in one spot. sometimes i notice heavy breathing kinda?
