How do you euthanize a snail?

Ok...here is the story...about 3 days ago I saw my snails mating....

My blue female...then I woke up this morning to a clutch of eggs.

Tonight she was attached to the side of the tank and her shell was coming off. I checked and it is completely detached and she is still alive.

So please help!

Put a bigger shell in there for her. Maybe she left her old shell cause it was too small? I don't know anything about snails so just guessing. Hopefully, one of the snail experts on here can help you.

thats is a WTF moment if i ever read one.

I can't even think of any thing helpfull

I know...I am completely freaked out. I had noticed about a week ago that there was a spot on her shell that looked like it was growing strangely but I did not expect this!

Ok I just found the thread about the ice water in the freezer, so that is the route I am going to take.

Just smash it, that's alot faster than being frozen or shocked to death.

Snails go into a dormant state as their body cools down. Here is an excerpt from an expert at SMU. Quoting from the article, I have also included the link to the article.

"Euthanasia can be accomplished by placing the animal in a freezer: since a
snail’s metabolism is dependant on the ambient temperature, it’s nervous system will slow down and it will loose consciousness before death."

Apparently, in the case of snails freezing is human because they are unconsious long before they start to freeze. This is not the case with fish, and fish should never be euthanised using the freezing method.
