I need some suggestions for lighting in a 120 Tall tank (60L x 18W x 26T). I want to grow several plants and not just low light plants only. I want to minimalize the need for chem ferts but can do CO2 if needed (Less messy imo).

I want the plants to thrive and grow big and not just die off and start rotting, any help is apreciated. If I do need to also do chem ferts what would be some good ones to use that wont make my water cloudy or pollute it to badly. I have that problem with my 29 and my 10 planted.

Pretty much what would be the ideal thing to do.

for a tank that tall you will need around 300 watts to try any medium light plants. i wouldnt put less than 185 watts on it for low light plants
the 10,000k would be best since its so tall but you can use the 6700k and 10,000k bulbs together

pressurized co2 will be needed if you get into the 2-3wpg range you cant use diy co2 on a tank that big so it depends if you want to put 500.00 or more in lighting and co2 or just have enough light for low light plants and no co2

If you are going to use CO2 you are probably going to need to add fertilizer as well. It shouldn't make the water cloudy. Get some dry fertilizer, there are several places you can get it from. Nitrogen, potassium, phosphorous, and trace elements.

Are the 30" fixtures you already have T5HO? Because if they aren't you can't just put T5 bulbs in them, they won't fit and I'm pretty sure the ballasts are different.

I got a chance to look at them when I got home and they aren't. I think what I might do is get 4 x 55 watt lighting and do pressurized CO2 along with dry ferts. I'll stick with the low light plants and maybe get a few medium light plants and see how they do.

I'm getting yelled at for not doing fake plants like he wants (I hate fake plants!)
