A friend of mine is hunting for these, and I've had no luck finding them either! Are they common in the US yet?

As far as I know, the albino telescopes (aka China dolls) don't seem to be commonly available unless I am mistaken. Someone in New York was able to obtain a couple last May when she found them in a petstore. I have my bit of regret to myself not getting some for myself either and I am from Asia. They are very elusive to me.:(

I just checked Goldfishconnection website and I don't think they have any available. Raingarden.us doesn't have them either.

Wishing you and your friend luck to find these elusive critters! If you manage to get some, please do post photos. I am sorry I could not be of any help to locate some for you and your friend.

Edit: Please check this link if your friend is willing to import some.

These people sell a lot of nice goldfish state side. They are in Hawaii and have a good reputation in the GF community. Several members of www.Thegab.org have bought and really been happy. No china dolls listed on their site but he has a lot of connections, suggest sending them an email or calling.
Just about to post and read Lupin's post LOL but I second it anyway..... Hi Lupin!!!!

Lol... The name china doll has been applied to everything from "dwarf goldfish" to telescopes with exceptionally large eyes. The commonly accepted definition however, refers to a short finned, relatively long set body telescope bred for top view appreciation. Tommy Hui over at goldfishnet.com has them from time to time. He lists new fish every Wednesday, but has many others in stock that are not listed at any given time. It might be a good idea to shoot him an email and see if he has any available at the moment.
