I came home last night to my cichlid tank at 100 degrees.:jaw: My heater decided not to shut off:irked:, and killed all but two of my fish. I am so sad about the loss of the fish cause some of them had been with me for a long time and I had watched them grow from juvies to breeding ready males.

Wow. Sorry to hear that. It really sucks. What kind of heater (so we can avoid them)?

Sorry to hear that goalieman. It seems like you hear more and more about these heaters failing. I hope this isn't going to be a trend with them. I have 2 on my 125.

The heater was a little over a year old. After talking to marineland last night they are changing to a new heater line. I will be switching all of my heaters to other types.

It turns out that marineland is going to get me a replacement heater or refund my money. Also they might cover the fish but I have to go get an estimate for all of the loss.
