This is a project that has been underway for months (with lots of down time). I actually ran all the PEX tubing a few months ago, had most of the fittings, I was just trying to locate the proper tool to put it all together. A buddy in a local fish club loaned me one last weekend so I've been able to get it all together. The plan was to run water lines behind the fish wall, 1) for access to water without having hoses all over my basement, 2) permanent water supply for the RO/DI without running hoses all over my basement, and 3) to set up an auto water change system.

First step - plumbing. I tapped into the hot and cold water lines and put in two tees and ball valves - this was the extent of the copper. The rest is PEX tubing.

Next, I plumbed the tubing over and through the wall, with a break in the cold water line to feed the RO system.

Then, I ran the hot and cold over, tapped into both, and ran the tubing into a thermostatic mixing valve. This can be set to output water at a constant temperature, adjustable between 70 and 120 degrees F. The output is split off, one for basic running water for a hose, and the other will get plumbed down into 1/4" tubing to run the constant drip.

There are some other parts for the emptying phase which I will hopefully get around to this weekend...more to come ;)

valves from the other side....yes I ran out of clearance so I had to bend the handle of one of them

RO system placement (yes the tubes are a mess right now...that will be cleaned up)

Need to add some support to keep that tub from bowing...the plan is to add two more - one for RO/DI water, one for premixed sw and one for premixed BW, hopefully each one with its own pump for moving water around.

The whole system - mixing valve, tap to hook up a hose, and the end that will have a 1/4" line with a drip running into the sump (need one more piece for that)

nice.

I think i need to do that. What model is the mixing valve & where did you find it? Does it have hose thread or pipe thread (IP) fittings?

I'm just using hot and cold taps with a wye....I can't tell ya how many times I've filled a tank with too hot or too cold water cause the temp changed after adjusting !

That's what I'd do if I had a fish room.
