well it's actually 11.38 gallons according to the volume calculator, lol. It was in my neighbor's trash so i grabbed it. Some of the silicone on the outside was peeling so i scraped a bit of it off, do i need to scrape ALL of it off around the parts im resealing? It holds water (i tested it) but i wanted to reinforce the outer seams (this tank is older than i am according to the label). The inner seams are perfect. What type (brand, etc) of silicone should i use?
Now for the fun part. I'm looking for suggestions on anything from stocking to decorating. I definitely want some interesting stock, maybe something i've never kept before. I also have to decide if i want it planted, rocks or driftwood, and of course gravel or sand. Any input is welcome. Thanks in advance! :)

I think you should the a mix of plants, rocks and driftwood. I have a mix like that and it's pretty cool.

Some new stocking that you should look at are some nanofish. They'd be perfect for your tank.

I pulled a ten gal out of the dumpster here too. Wish they had thrown out a twenty nine gal.

I beg to defer? I have a 30 gallon tank, and it leaked when I first put water in it.. So I looked all over the original silicon and the parts that looked "bare" to me I scraped away and resiliconed the entire tank. It's doing perfect now.

It confuses me on why there would be silicone on the "outside" of the tank, unless it had a leak even though the interior silicone looks fine and they did a quick patch.

Silicone will temporarily work on old silicone, but it is not a reliable repair for the long term. The larger the tank, the more it will be an issue as the tank flexes during water changes.

Thanks for the feedback, everyone. I think what I'll do tomorrow is fill it up and see if it still holds water w/out the outside silicone b/c it looks pretty tight. If it doesn't I'll see how much i can scrape off and re-seal the outside. Now, for stocking. Anyone have any interesting ideas? I was looking at the tiny freshwater fish list and I like a lot of the fish on there. Maybe killifish...and i also like Okefenokee sunfish but i dont know where I'd get them. Instead of cories/otos i'd like to do another small catfish like matdoms or oilwood catfish. Any other input is welcomed (on decor too...thanks Chrisinator :) )

Would:

4 x Pseudomogil gertrudae
1 x checkerboard cichlid
1 x honeycomb tatia

be pushing the stock? I'm open to other ideas as well but i really liked these particular fish.
