Some pics of my new Bamboo shrimp. I think the reason why they are not fanning is they are still getting used to their new surroundings. They are definitely Bamboo shrimp as I saw them fanning at the store where I bought them.

The penny in the pics was a failed attempt to provide scale. The larger shrimp is about 3 1/2 inches. I was unable to get a measurement of the smaller one.

I also bought a Nerite snail from a different place a week or two ago and thought I would include pics of it as well:

super Jealous, I've always wanted some of those bamboos!

Thanks all!

Just to let everyone know the big shrimp died most likely due to the loss of two fans. I believe he lost them due to rough handling by the pet store (it is not my usual lfs).

The shrimp will most likely receive a burial in my yard.

Today I bought a new Bamboo shrimp who so far seems healthy.

Forgot to mention the other Bamboo shrimp is doing great.

yeah, I lose probably half of the bamboo shrimp I buy due to rough handling. They're large, but fragile.

They do take a good bit of time to feel comfortable and start fanning... but may also not fan if there is not enough current or food in the water column. I will often supplement their diet with liquid foods, or powdered foods mixed with water, and injected into the flow near them. This seems to work wonders. Foods mine seem to love include algae powders, liquid live marine algae, crushed crab pellets, baby brine shrimp, and cyclopseze.

Quick update!

They are all doing well.

One stopped fanning and is instead acting strange(he/she often will zip around the tank seemingly at random).

The other shrimp is doing well and is constantly fanning (and trying to ignore the other shrimp that is zipping around the tank lol).
