what is this creature ??

Hi I am re cycling my tank as I was getting a cloudy tank then it would go green ? but while it was cycling I noticed two creatures that sought of look like snails but I don't think they are ,does anyone know what they are and are they bad for the tank?

your goldfish will probably eat them, i feed extra babies to my fancy
 
Definitely a ramshorn. That might not be a baby, Ramshorns really don't get much bigger than the size of a nickel at most. As far as the goldfish eating them, I'm not sure, I don't keep goldfish, but I have read posts where people say both. Some say they do and some say they don't, so it might just depend on the size of the fish, the size of the snail etc...but I am not really sure.

Right, I also have some very old ramshorns that are about the size of my thumbnail...which is also about the size of a nickel give or take. Also, ramshorns are shaped a bit differently when they are babies...as they become juvies..they start to look like ramshorns....like the OP's picture.....which leads me to believe it may not a baby.....
