on a good note it seems my husband is getting more into the whole fish keeping thing 
as today he stepped in when a couple were looking to buy their 2 pet fish a new bowl after they broke their old one! he just started talking to them asking what type of fish (turned out to be goldfish) so he asked what type (they didnt know-not even if they had 2 tails or 1, fat bodies or thin :irked: )and then told them the sizes these fish all grow to and what size tanks they needed. he finished talking to them and they put down the 1g bowl they picked up and he came back to me and asked why i was smiling at him i knew he really liked them....he just keeps it really really well hidden

unfortunately after he told them all about their pet fish, including a quick low down on stunting, they waited until we went off and picked up the same cheap plastic bowl :irked: ignorant idiots :irked:
its so tempting to print off a whole load of life size pictures of mature goldfish, cut them out,and have something like 'adult size goldfish-are you stunting yours?' written on their sides and slip them into every fish bowl i see in shops!
