both tanks. an res and 8 white clouds on top. its still minimal. i'm thinkin more driftwood and java moss. some more minnows, a couple guppies and tetras on the bottom. i got anacharis, amazons, java moss, and one little anubia growin in there. its not really a sump actually, cause its gonna be a display tank too

. that horizontal hose coming off the side of the bottom tank serves no purpose, ignore.

the contraption to change two 1" hoses to a single 1/2" hose". i've found that if the overflow hose has the same size as the return pump, the drains become VERY quiet and the bubbles dissappear in the sump! but keep it slightly larger than the 1/2" for safety (use one metric, one not). this kills flushing sounds by 75% or more as opposed to a single 1" hose. there is still some sound. HOWEVER, i'm planning to get one of those hose tighteners and restrict the flow to further quiet the overflows. this would always need to be kept so that there are still a few bubbles in the sump. eventually you would need to loosen it so more bubbles come, or clean the pipe!

the outlet from the overflow into the sump. notice the peaceful bubbling!

)

a closeup of the overflow from the side. you can see the nylon net i'm using temporarily as a preoverflow (to block fish from goin down) this also ensures that the drains will never ever clog. even if that net clogged the water would just overflow over it!
