A few days ago I had a betta that made a bubblenest I was so happy and excited first time ever that a betta made one. Due to an accident which I feel so badly about I set the heater a bit too high the temp went up to 90 and my poor guy died :( stupidity on my part.:duh:Old type of Elite heaters that don't turn on and off for desired temp.

5 days ago I got a new betta Merlot which I posted pics of in this forum for all to see. Well I just came back from the pool a little while ago looked in the tank only to see he made a bubblenest!!!!!!:D I am so excited only thing is the tank is a 2.5g. I do not have room at all to have him spawn with a female. My 10g is being used right now for QT I have an albino cory that is sick that I am treating so absolutely can't do it. But the fact that two bettas back to back made bubblenest in that tank makes me very happy.

If he does not spawn after making a bubblenest is that a bad thing?I am not too educated about the spawning issues with bettas. I know bettas can get depressed they say. As far as the heater goes am keeping a timer on when I put it on to alert me to check the tank so this never happens again. Check out the new bubblenest I posted a pic in the forum earlier of the bubblenest the first betta made check it out :).

Thanks Chris am so excited I take really good care of my bettas and was down after the death of the last betta really dumb mistake with the heater. This has cheered me up alot just the aspects that I could have him spawn if I had the room to do so. :)

Nice bubbles! Dont worry about not breeding your guy, they're not as "driven" as say humans to do the deed. Bubblenest building is just a natural part of who he is, I dot believe he's depressed because he doesn't have any progeny. Spawning is exhausting work for the males who can die from their exertions.

Show him a mirror every so often, feed him yummy food, keep his tank water clean & warm, and he'll be in betta heaven. :)
