The pond with some Triops
What the title says.

I'm aiming for a height of about 9-11 inches.

I was looking at a Dwarf Sagittaria, except it apparently changes height whenever it feels like it. I'm looking for something that'll stay at the specified height.

Yeah, but not jungle vals. Those things get huge. Corkscrew? They seem to stay smaller.

What about good ol' java fern or needle leaf java fern? Guess they could get bigger than that but it takes a while. Some kind of anubias, they take a while too.

I love my java fern! IMO I like it best when it's a little short plant but thats just me. Vals would work.

Agree with all of the above. Vallisneria is a classic. Java ferns work too, I have a huge one, around 12 inches in height & width, but as cobfreak says, it'll take a long time to get there. As for the Anubias, some species like A. congensis or A. hastifolia can be your desired height. Also, you could try some larger cryptocorynes. Then there's stem plants. There's lots of options if you go with those, I think almost any will work if you trim them.

waldo beat me to it. midground you say? i'd be curious as to it's use more specifically (like a pic of the tank with a circle where you plan on planting it). something like a banana or crinum might fit well in the spot you're thinking of although they might not be suggested due to the height you're asking about.

Front view, this is the general layout I'm aiming for:

I'm getting all my plants from LiveAquaria. It would really help if you suggest plants I can order from there.
Exception: My biology teacher is giving me her excess dwarf water lettuce.
As for the Eleocharis parvula, I'm really, really, REALLY praying I can find someone willing to sell some over at the Aquaria Central Marketplace. My only other option is Eleocharis acicularis at LiveAquaria, but I think that's too big for what I want.

Vals are nice, but you may need to trim them back from time to time.
I won't mind doing that.

I have some available if you are interested, PM me.
The hairgrass? Well, I'm still planning my tank and all, I've yet to start setting up my tank. I'll probably start to order all my plants in 2 or 3 weeks, after all the aquarium equipment is shipped to my home and I set up everything.
