Hey all!!
Have not had time for pics, but I went to wal-mart tonight because I had to pick up some organic baby food for my snello and gelatin, and of course, because I am a masochist:headshake2:, I went back to check out the fish. They had all these female bettas on the back of a shelf, gross water, underfed, laying on their sides:eek3:, very lethargic and I snapped:swear:. I yelled at the manager for like 20 minutes and ended up helping her clean out all the tanks and betta cups, feed the fish and put the right fish in the right places. They had Blood Parrots in COLD water :headshake2:, they had oscars with mollys and freshwater crabs with no way to get out of the water :mad2:!! I was so upset, so I bought all the female bettas that they had (7) and since I moved my cories to my 100 gallon, they are now in the 55 gallon, together, happy as clams, and coloring up. 3 of them have that stripe from the eyes to the tail, which you couldn't see in the store because they were so pale. One is now red finned when all you could see was grey in the store and one is turquoise and one is blue, but they both looked black and grey in the store. One is all white/pink with random black spots. I will get pictures as soon as they color up all the way, but I wanted to share the story. There has been a little flaring at each other, but with all the plants and hiding space, they get along fine. What is really funny is that one of my male guppies thinks flaring at the biggest female is a good idea :evil_lol:, and when she chases him, he hides and then slowly goes right back to her to start flaring again. Ya, he is really bright. There has been no nipping of the snails or the other fish, they are coloring up, they ate (a lot) and are resting in the plants. So, without really planning it, I now have a betta sorority with 7 of the most beautiful girls I have ever seen! (if I do say so myself). Updates and pics to come!! Thanks for reading!
