Awhile ago when I was trying to find local breeders in my area I found it very hard to accomplish. I wanted someone local to avoid high shipping charges but searches on the net came up with noone local. After sometime I finally found a few breeders within a 1 hour drive but all the time I spent trying to find this info was very disturbing.

Well, now being a breeder myself I was hoping to make this task easier for others.

I put together a regional breeders directory. Breeders can post in their local region and include all the species that they breed. This will help breeders get their name out there and drive more customers to them.

You are invited to come check out the Aquatic Life Breeders Directory

Not a lot though, at least from what ive seen. And none in my area, well i guess Milwaukee is pretty close to where i live in Hartland.

Dude The Fish Shoppe might not have much and they might have outrageous prices, but the guy there is very helpful and will always try and lead you away from unsuitable fish. The livestock is also unkillable, very hardy.

Im not sure about the place in Oconomowoc though. I know there is a place called Aquatic World. The trick to that is going to there site because everything is marked down but at the store its more expensive. You need to tell the cashier that you saw this for so and so price and on your site and they will mark it down to that. I dont know what to point is but hey its better then nothing.
By the way I live on E Capitol:p

Hello fellow Wisconsinites,

I was a bit disappointed with the Fish Shoppe also for the same reasons you mentioned but a nice guy and I did find some SAE when no else had them, although, labeled as Flying Foxes. I also had to stop the assistant from adding feeder guppy water (the closest tank he saw) to the SAE when I asked for some more since I lay the bags on their side in mt styro.

Aquatic World is a great place to wheel and deal, especially if you only need one filter or a couple items. Bring in your catalog or price list and they will check their wholesale price and come fairly close. Very disappointed in their fish though. You can barely see the tanks and fish due to the poor lighting and colored gravel. Not much variety either. I usually do not bother looking at them anymore when I am there.

Thanks for your efforts on the Breeder List, Dan. I checked it out awhile ago to see what is available. Worth a look before going to Milw. Aq. Society auction and waiting for what I want.

Discus Monopoly ?

How can it be there are no Discus breeders in "subtropical" weather down here, other than one in south Florida.

I find that very strange....
Anyone have any info - wish I had more time to look into this..

Thanks ..in advance...
